Lynne Gail Fare, Hospice Nurse and Caregiver to Elderly
Lynne was born in Minneapolis, MN in 1943. Her parents were Harold E. Suneson and Helen G. Moberg Suneson who adopted Lynne in 1946.
Lynne graduated from South High School in Minneapolis in 1961. She attended Nurses Training at Minneapolis General Hospital and obtained her Registered Nurse (RN) Diploma (Hennepin County General Hospital/ University of Minnesota) in 1964 and R.N. License there. Lynne and her husband, Fred E. Fare, met through a mutual friend while Lynne was a nursing student. They were married in Minneapolis in December 1965. Lynne worked at Lawrence Memorial Hospital in the labor and delivery unit while she attended KU majoring in Fine Arts, as a drawing and painting major. Fred was attending KU on a Navy Scholarship.
She was a full time Mom; Team Mother; Cub Scout and Girl Scout Leader; an active Navy wife and Navy Wives Club leader. She served as the Ombudsman for the Gold Crew of the USS George C. Marshall (SSBN654) during Fred's command tour. When their children were all in grade school, she returned to Nursing part-time at Lawrence & Memorial Hospital in New London, CT. After Fred's retirement in 1986 from the Navy, they moved to Severna Park. Lynne continued her Nursing career working at local hospitals (Anne Arundel Medical Center, North Arundel Hospital) in home care and at Arundel Hospice (now Hospice of the Chesapeake). Lynne continued working as a Home Care Nurse Manager and entered the "RN to Masters" Program at the University of Maryland in 1990. Upon completion of her Master's Program, she continued to work with the elderly at Charlestown Retirement Community in Baltimore, MD, and finally as the Clinical Director at Hopkins ElderPlus, JHU Bayview in Baltimore. After her retirement due to disability, she worked part-time as the Office Manager at Fare Chiropractic in Severna Park.
She holds the following Degrees from the University of Maryland, Bachelor of Science Nursing (BSN) (School of Nursing, 1991) and Master of Science (M.S.) (1996). She was "recognized as an Advanced Practice Nurse" in Community Health and Gerontology by The University of Maryland School of Nursing in 1995 and 1996. She became one of only 3 professionals in the state of Maryland with the certification "Clinical Specialist in Gerontological Nursing" (ANCC, and 1999-2009). She is a member of the International Honor Society of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau International.
She is survived by her husband of over 50 years, Fred E. Fare (CDR, USN (Ret); her children: Heather L. Houghton and her husband, Mark; Todd E. Fare and his wife, Tricia; Travis H. Fare and his wife Dena: her grandchildren: Rebekah Mechtensimer, Emma Fare, Elizabeth Fare, Cameron Fare, Catherine Houghton and Eva Fare; her brothers, Terry Suneson and his wife, Shirly, and Dean Suneson; her nieces and nephews, Jill and Ben Oertel, Shelly and Greg Lustrup, Brad and Amber Suneson and Curt Suneson; her grandniece Kate, and grandnephews Wyatt and Colin: many cousins: her dear friends Colleen, Cindy, Kay, Mary, Lynn, Lynda and many other friends.
