Lyle J. (Bob) Turner, of Adamstown, MD, died after a brief illness on August 18, 2012 at Sunrise Senior Living in Severna Park, MD. Past residences include Florham Park, NJ and Hilton Head, SC.
Mr. Turner was born on March 12, 1918 in Brooklyn, NY, where he graduated from Erasmus Hall.
He served in the U.S. Army as a Lieutenant in the 101st Cavalry and the Seventh Armored Division. In WWII, he fought in the Normandy breakout, Liberation of Verdun and the Battle of the Bulge, receiving the Bronze Star.
Early in his career, Mr. Turner worked on Wall Street. He later became an International Sales Executive with Warner Lambert retiring in 1981. He enjoyed woodworking and loved playing golf. He shot his age at 74 and also had four holes-in-one.
He was the husband of the late Ann Decker Turner, father of Robert L. Turner of San Tan Valley, AZ, Ann T. Hickman-Sabatino of Severna Park, MD, the late Jean T. Genovese, Steven F. Turner of West Bloomfield, MI and James E. Turner of Richmond, VA, and grandfather of 14 grandchildren.
A Family Service will be held at the cemetery on Wednesday, August 22, 2012.
