Lyla Marmon Kirby, 77, of Harwood, Maryland died on Sunday, July 19, 2020 with her son and daughter by her side.  Lyla was born June 28, 1943 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to the late Lyle and Mary Marmon.  She grew up on a farm in Williamstown, New Jersey.  She earned her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Delaware. After graduation she was a French teacher, but moved on to be an Analyst (among other roles) at the National Security Agency (NSA) for more than 40 years.  She "retired" from NSA in 1998, but continued to work as a contractor for several years before returning to NSA in 2010.  Lyla enjoyed puzzles and games, reading, and watching British TV shows.  She also loved watching Jeopardy every night with her son Michael.  Lyla was smart, funny, sarcastic and loved by many people.  While she could be intimidating upon first meeting, especially when she raised one eyebrow and gave you the "look", that didn't last long once you got to know her.

Lyla is survived by her children, Patty and Michael, nieces and nephews, and so many friends.  Lyla was predeceased by her brothers, Jim and Robert.
