LTC (Ret) Thomas B. Guthrie, a longtime resident of Cape St. Claire community, passed away on May 15th after a fight with cancer at the age of 87. The son of Col Thomas F. Guthrie and Isabel Guthrie, Tom was a graduate of Virginia Tech, Vietnam veteran, loving husband and father, youth sports coach to many and a great loyal friend. He was quick witted, never without a joke to tell or a hand to lend. A lifelong sport enthusiast following his Boston Red Sox, and New England Patriots and of course his Virginia Tech Hokies. As the left-handed avid golfer, he could be found honing his skills at the Naval Academy Golf Club. Tom was predeceased by his wife, Marti, and son Kevin. He is survived by his daughter, Bonnie of Annapolis, son, Tom (Kim) of Kanas City, KS, Grandson Thomas(Krystalyn) Guthrie and Granddaughter Merrin Guthrie.

Family and friends may visit on Thursday May 29, 2025 from 2:00pm-5:00pm at Barranco Severna Park Funeral Home & Cremation Care,P.A. 495 Ritchie Hwy Severna Park, MD 21146. A Mass of Christian burial will be Celebrated on Tuesday November 18, 2025 at 11:00am at St Andrew by the Bay Catholic Church 701 College Pkwy, Annapolis, MD 21409. Internment with honors will be held on Wednesday November 19, 2025 at 1:00pm at Arlington National cemetery.
