IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Lt. Col.
Malcolm O. Bossier, Jr.
May 14, 1934 – January 20, 2024
Lt. Col. Malcolm O. Bossier, Jr. (Mal) died peacefully on January 20, 2024, surrounded by his entire family who could not stop telling him how much he was loved, appreciated, and respected as the "ROCK" of his family. Mal was considered the greatest dad and "Baha" (grandpa) ever known to humankind according to his family. Mal was THE friendliest, kindest, most giving, selfless man – always putting others first. He had an enormous smile, big "hello there" and strong handshake for everyone he ever greeted. Every group he dealt with, whether it be the staff at his doctors' offices, the workers Chik Fil-A, neighbors, or his kids' friends, he would learn their names, a little about them and follow their lives, always wanting updates. Although his family is joyful he no longer has any pain or suffering, he will be incredibly missed by his everyone…more than words can express.
Malcolm spent 22 years as an internal auditor for the United States Air Force, retiring as Lieutenant Colonel. He had a full second career also as an internal auditor for three companies – Spacecom, Contel and GTE - until his retirement. In his spare time, and just for fun (!!), he served as a math professor for University of Maryland - and - got his real estate license to support his wife in her work at Long & Foster, Again, Mal/Dad/Baha was always putting others first, especially his family.
Malcolm is survived by his children, Cynthia Camille Bossier Van Vliet, Michael Anton Bossier, and Cynthia's husband Christopher Michael Van Vliet; and grandchildren, Casey Elisabeth Van Vliet, Matthew Christopher Van Vliet and Jayla Carinn Bossier.
Malcolm was born in Shreveport, Louisiana to Vera Burns Thomas and Malcolm Otto Bossier, Sr., each a widow with children from their prior marriage, so Malcolm was their baby (& only) boy. They were a family of strong faith and Mal grew up knowing the Lord and was not afraid to go home, even though he cried goodbye when he realized it was his time. That is how much he loved his family.
There will be visitation for immediate family members only on February 1, 2024, at Barranco Funeral Home, Severna Park Maryland, followed by a private celebration of life service at the Veteran Cemetery Crownsville Chapel officiated by Pastor Matt Beers of Our Shepherd Lutheran Church, Severna Park, where Malcolm was a member.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations in Mal's honor to Our Shepherd Lutheran Church, Severna Park, MD 21108, or the Delaware-Maryland Synod, ELCA at 5699 Meridale Rd, Baltimore, MD 21228.
May God bless you and keep you.
