Louis Wingo Sr.

Louis R. Wingo Sr., 79, of Arnold, died of complications of dementia June 14 at Corsica Hills Nursing Home.

Born on February 27, 1928 in Baltimore, Mr. Wingo served as a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne during World War II.

He worked as a machinist for Maryland Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Company for 34 years, and also worked for David Taylor Research Center in Annapolis and was a former lieutenant with the Earleigh Heights Volunteer Fire Departments.

Mr. Wingo was a member of Pasadena Sport Fishing Club and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and spending time with his grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by one grandson.

Surviving are his wife, Rose Mary Wingo of Arnold; one daughter, Tina Peddicord of Cape St. Claire; one son, Louis R. Wingo Jr. of Westminster; and four grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on June 17 at Barranco & Sons Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway. The service will be at 11:30 a.m. at Barranco & Sons with burial at Maryland State Veterans Cemetery, 1122 Sunrise Beach Road, Crownsville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Dis. Association, 1850 York Road, Suite D, Timonium, MD 21093.
