Louis LeRoy (Roy) Kibler, Sr., 82, a resident of Arnold and Severna Park for over 50 years died on September 11, 2010.

Mr. Kibler was a graduate of the Maryland Institute and attended Johns Hopkins University. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War.

Mr. Kibler was Executive Vice President and Vice Chairman of A.K. Robins & CO., Inc., where he was employed for forty years. A.K. Robins was a family business founded in 1855. Robins manufactured processing machinery for the food industry, principally for canning and frozen food plants throughout the world. He retired in 1989 after the company was sold to VHC, Ltd., an international company.

He served on the board of directors of Food Processing and Machinery Association in Washington, DC. He was president and member of the board of governors of The Society of Tri-Staters. Mr. Kibler also served on the board of directors of the FORTY-NINERS, a group of food processing executives.

Mr. Kibler was a member of College Parkway Baptist Church and served on various committees. He was also active in outreach for the church.

Mr. Kibler enjoyed Bible study, classical music, and concerts at the Naval Academy.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Kathryn Jean Kibler; two sons, Louis L. Kibler, Jr. of Odenton, MD and Mark E. Kibler of Richmond, VA; one daughter Kathryn C. Johnson of Deerwood, MN and 6 grandchildren. Also surviving are one brother, Willard F. Kibler of Littlestown, PA and three sisters, Betty Rhinehart of Millersville, Dora Melton of Glen Burnie, and Doris Catterton of Stevensville.

Family and friends may visit on Wednesday, September 15, 2010 from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home at 495 Ritchie Hwy. A Funeral Service will be at 11:00 AM on Thursday, September 16 at College Parkway Baptist Church, 301 College Parkway, Arnold, MD 21012.


Interment will be at Lakemont Memorial Gardens in Davidsonville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Parkinson Disease Association (APDA), Anne Arundel County Chapter, PO Box 893, Severna Park, MD 21146 or to the Hospice of Chesapeake, 445 Defense Highway, Annapolis, MD 21401.
