IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Louis William
Bauhaus Jr.
July 2, 1941 – October 30, 2023
Louis William Bauhaus, Jr. passed away on Monday, October 30, 2023, surrounded by loved ones at his home in Pasadena, Maryland after a battle with cancer. "Bill" (as he was known by his family and friends) was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland before moving to Severna Park and Pasadena, Maryland where he lived for the past 55 years. A proud veteran of the United States Navy, he traveled overseas and served as an electronics technician during the Cuban Missile Crisis on the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Enterprise. After his military career, Bill worked as a sound engineer for the rock and roll radio station WCAO before working 38 years for the National Security Agency until his retirement from the government. If the true measure of a man is the quality of his character, then Bill Bauhaus was among the richest and tallest men to have ever lived. He was a patriot and true family man who lived his life with great heart and conviction. As a devoted husband, loving father to his three girls, and fantastic grandfather ("Pop-Pop") of seven, Bill always put family first by consistently making them his highest loving priority. This included attending countless sporting and other events for his kids and grandkids. He was also known for making his signature Mickey Mouse pancakes, manning the backyard grill, spending time at the beach, and going on cruises. Whatever kind of support may be needed, family could always count on Bill. From replacing a roof, to finishing a basement and just about anything in between, no job was beyond him and he was meticulous in his work. He was an engineer, and prior to the invention of the smartphone, he could build or repair just about anything: from fixing a car to repairing TV's and radios. He was always on the move and his numerous projects extended to sewing, working in the yard, and helping countless family members over the years.
After his retirement, he and his wife split time between homes in Pasadena, Maryland and The Villages, Florida. This allowed Bill many more months to enjoy outdoor activities such as golfing with friends and family. One of his favorite memories, despite not taking the game of golf up until he approached retirement, was when he was surrounded by friends on the golf course as he achieved the ever illusive hole-in-one.
Bill is survived by his wife of 58 years, Edith Bauhaus (Salisbury) of Pasadena, Maryland; his three daughters: Joan Zimmermann and her husband Sean of Davidsonville, Maryland, Theresa Murray and her husband Michael of Severna Park, Maryland, and Kathleen Martin and her husband Matthew of Apex, North Carolina; seven grandchildren: Tyler Zimmermann, Jessica Zimmermann, Kaitlyn Zimmermann, Connor Murray, Patrick Murray, Morgan Martin, and Kaleigh Martin; his sister: Lois Schreiber; brother-in-law: Randy Greenwald; sisters-in-law: Doris McDermott and Patricia Schott; and many nieces and nephews. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Mildred and Louis Bauhaus, Sr. and his sister Carolyn Cochell.
The family wishes to offer sincere thanks to all of the wonderful caregivers that provided outstanding compassion and care for Bill.
