Loretta Theresa Reid passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 26, 2024. She was 98 (although she would never share her age and certainly was young at heart). She was born in Brooklyn, NY and grew up enjoying the Brooklyn Dodgers, her job on Wall Street, and a large extended family. Her greatest joy was falling in love with her husband, Robert Reid. Together, they had three greatly-loved children before moving to Severna Park in 1970.

Loretta was quick to capture the hearts and attention of those around her with her humor and wit, thick New York accent, energized personality and caring spirit. All who knew her have their own stories to tell, which include hundreds of her infamous happy hours, North Cape Arthur Swim Team activities, and Belvedere Yacht Club outings.

She loved her family deeply and unconditionally. Loretta not only navigated her own life's challenges with grace and a steadfast belief that "this too shall pass" but supported numerous friends and family members through their own difficulties. She truly believed it was a "Wonderful World". She was beloved by all who met her.

Loretta is survived by her three children, Diane Dunn, Karen Reid, Robert Reid; her daughter-in-law Marissa Mediate; her six grandchildren, Robert Reid, Julianne Reid, Olivia Reid, Matthew Reid, Ashley Dunn, Gardener Dunn; and dozens of dear friends and extended family members.

Family and friends may visit on Friday February 2, 2024 from 2:00pm-4:00pm & 5:30pm-7:30pm at Barranco Severna Park Funeral Home & Cremation Care,P.A. 495 Ritchie Hwy Severna Park, MD 21146. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated on Saturday February 3, 2024 at 10:00am at St John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church 689 Ritchie Hwy Severna Park, MD 21146. Interment at MD Veterans Cemetery Crownsville, MD.
