Lois Eleanor Bain, a resident of Severna Park, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 13, 2019 at the age of 89.  Lois was born on June 25, 1929 to the late Thomas D. and Hazel M. Harble in Columbus, Ohio.  One of two daughters; she is predeceased by her sister, Doris Hickman of Columbus, Ohio.  Lois is also predeceased by Robert Allen Bain; the love of her life, to whom she was married for 55 years upon his death in January of 2008.

Lois met Robert at Ohio State University; and they spent decades moving around the country as his career as an avionics and aeronautical engineer kept them involved in the Apollo Space Program, and many other satellite and communication programs.  Lois was a gifted interior designer and gardener; consequently she excelled at transforming each of their houses into a home of beauty and love.  She treasured time together with family and took every opportunity to organize visits to the nations many natural parks, and historic monuments, homes, and museums.  She especially enjoyed their retirement years building their dream home in Oakton, VA.  They spent many years exploring the wonders of Washington D.C. and enjoying their children and grandchildren.

Lois is survived by her two beloved children, Rob Bain of Chantilly, VA and Kathleen Douglas of Severn Park, MD.  She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren Robert Douglas, Ryan Douglas (wife Michelle), Jacqueline Douglas of Severna Park, and Grant Bain, and Brooke Bain of Chantilly.

A memorial in her honor will be held at Arlington National Cemetery, where she will be inurned in a Columbarium alongside Robert Allen Bain.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the United Methodist Church of Severna Park, MD or to Hospice of the Chesapeake. The family is also grateful to Brightview Senior Living in Severna Park, and Regent Healthcare for providing Lois with the utmost in companionship and care in assistance to her family.
