Linda Cullison Horine Hendrix Hendrix, 68 years old, peacefully transitioned at her residence in Severna Park, Maryland on Friday April 6, 2012 after a courageous and dignified battle with cancer. She was the family matriarch and most known for her gatherings for family and friends. She will be remembered for her essence, her caring and thoughtfulness for others.
Born June 15, 1943 in Westminster, Maryland, daughter of the late Inez Cullison Horine and the late Randolph Horine both formerly of Westminster, Maryland. She is survived by her loving husband Robert Eugene Hendrix of Severna Park, brother Randolph Melvin Horine of Moline Illinois and sister Charlotte Horine Schmidt of White Stone, Virginia, and her six children, Darrell Hyde and family of New Windsor, Maryland, Dr. Kelly Hyde and partner of Santa Fe, New Mexico, Cheryl Hyde-Esiason and family of Manhasset, New York, Dr. Charles Hendrix and partner of Kansas City, Kansas, Michael Hyde and partner of Manchester, Maryland and Monica Hendrix of Brooklyn, New York, many cousins, nieces and nephews, with special mention of cousin Lynn Knott of Golden, Colorado, niece Karen Hanna of Moline, Illinois, friend Linda Ibex of Westminster and honorary daughter, Tammy Amaker of Manhattan, New York for their devoted care.
She was grandmother of Gunner and Sydney Esiason, Brooke and Mallory Hendrix and Elliott, Tristan, Regan and Brennan Hyde.
She was a devoted to animals and will be dearly missed by her dogs and cats: Rosie, Chloe, Jack, Maddie and Cricket.
She attended Westminster Senior High School and was a life-long learner. She spent the last 30 years of her life with her soul mate Robert Hendrix between their two homes in Auburn, Washington and Severna Park, Maryland. She and Bob shared a love of animals, gardening, travel, community and neighborhood service and spending time with friends of family. She was a member of St. Alban's Episcopal Church
She was loyal sports fan, watching all Baltimore Orioles, Baltimore Ravens and Maryland Terrapins sporting events. One of her devoted interest over the past 20 years was family genealogy and she came to find and know many distant relatives as a result. Her welcoming hospitality and generous spirit will be remembered and missed by many family and friends across the country.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial visitation on Tuesday April 10, 2012 from 3-5 and 7-9 PM at the Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Hwy. Severna Park, MD 21146. A Memorial service will be held on Wednesday April 11, 2012 at 12:00 noon in the St. Alban's Episcopal Church 1st Ave and A Street, SW Glen Burnie, MD 21061.
