Linda Lee Ferguson, age 67 and formerly of Severna Park, MD, passed away in Santa Clarita, CA, on Saturday, December 3, 2022. Linda was born in LaRochelle, France on December 26, 1954, daughter of the late Walter and Bertha (Martin) Cook. Linda grew up in Fayetteville NC, Indianapolis IN, Frankfurt West Germany, and Kaiserslautern West Germany. She graduated from Douglas Byrd Senior High School in Fayetteville in 1973. Linda earned an Associate degree in Secretarial Science from Fayetteville Technical Institute in 1975. On August 18, 1984, Linda was united in a Catholic marriage to Thomas Ferguson at Fort Bragg, NC.
In her younger years, Linda thoroughly enjoyed the time she spent cross stitching, quilting, making children's blankets for Project Linus in Severna Park, MD, gardening, serving as a Den Mother in Cub Scout Pack 450 at St. John's Catholic Church, Severna Park, traveling, and especially spelunking/caving with her family. She was also an avid reader of literature and loved to listen to popular music from the 1970s-1980s. In her later years, she enjoyed listening to audio books of many genres.
She worked in secretarial positions at Fort Bragg, NC, as an administrative assistant at Tempelhof Central Airport in West Berlin, Germany, and as an editorial assistant for the Shipmate Magazine at the US Naval Academy Alumni Association in Annapolis, MD and for The Voice in Severna Park, MD.
After retiring in 2000, she became a caregiver for her parents until their passing in 2004 (Walter) and 2007 (Bertha). Linda was also a parishioner at St. John's Roman Catholic Church in Severna Park, MD, and St. Clare of Assisi Roman Catholic Church in Santa Clarita, CA. More than anything Linda loved being a wife, a mother, a mother-in-law, a grandma, and cherished every moment she spent with her family.
Linda is survived by her husband of 38 years, Thomas; one son, Kevin (Adam) Ferguson; grandson, Taran Murray Ferguson; her older half-sisters Marge Gray and Barbara Simpson; her siblings Larry Cook, Garry Cook, and Vicki (Arvin) Bahr; and a sister-in-law, Noreen (Jeffrey) Poirier. She is further survived by a niece, Amanda (Kohl) Cook, a nephew, Adam Cook, and numerous friends and medical personnel in the Severna Park, MD, and Santa Clarita, CA, areas.
She was also preceded in death by a half-brother Walter "Butch" Cook.
A visitation for Linda will be held at Barranco Severna Park Funeral Home & Cremation Care, P.A. on Wednesday, December 21, 2022, from 9-11 am. A graveside service will be in the Crownsville Veteran's Cemetery Chapel in Crownsville, MD at 11:30 am, Wednesday, December 21, with a private burial to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Linda's name to Project Linus—Annapolis (Anne Arundel County, MD) Chapter, c/o 2172 Mulberry Hill Rd, Annapolis, MD 21409 or via www.linusannapolis.org .
