Lewis Marshall Dowling, a resident of Annapolis, formerly of Severna Park, died June 6 at Specialty Hospital in Washington D.C.
He was born on January 3, 1921 in Stevensville, Montana, where he was raised. He later moved to Tacoma, Washington, then to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and later to Severna Park in 1954.
He served in the Army
during World War II in the Signal Corps and was stationed in the Philippines and Japan. He was an Engineer at Westinghouse and retired after 40 years. He was a member of the Registered MD Professional Engineers. He was also a past president of the Severn River Association and the Ben Oaks Civic Association.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ruth Dowling and two sisters, Mary Cassidy and Charlaine Brock.
He is survived by his two daughters, Lynne D. Rockenbauch of Severna Park and Dana G. Kessler of Buford, Georgia; four grandchildren, Christian Kessler IV, Jenna Adelman, Lee Rockenbauch and Evan Rockenbauch; and one great granddaughter, Chloe Adelman.
Interment will be held at the MD Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville at 1:45 p.m. on Friday, June 15th. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 16th at 2:30 p.m.at Baywoods Norair Hall, 7101 Bayfront Drive, Annapolis.
