Leroy (Lee) Charles Morris, 86, a longtime resident of Riviera Beach in Pasadena, died at his home on October 14, 2012, after a brief illness.
He was born to his parents, Marguerite and David Morris in Baltimore on April 21, 1926.
Lee was an "Army Brat" and lived many places including Biloxi, MS and Honolulu, HI. He also lived in Brooklyn Park prior to moving to Riviera Beach in 1960.
He served in the Navy during WWII and received medals for American Area; Victory-World War II; Asiatic-Pacific & 9 Stars; and Philippine Liberation & 1 Star. He returned home to be married to his wife Bertha on October 19, 1946.
Lee was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church. He served the community as an Anne Arundel County Special Police Officer and as a Reserve Officer. He also volunteered with Boy Scouts Pack 709, Y-Indian Guides, Brooklyn Park Softball, Riviera Little League, and the Sons of the American Legion Post 277. Over the years he has received numerous citations and awards for his dedication to the community to include the "President's Call to Service Award" from President George W. Bush in 2005.
His interests included cars, wood working, model building, general tinkering, fishing and sailing.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Bertha Morris of Riviera Beach, his children; Linda Modeski of Baltimore, Laura Ryan of Pasadena, Dennis Morris of Hancock, David Morris of Pasadena, and Donald Morris of Severn, his grandchildren; Bobby, Leeann, Danielle, Kristen, Danny, Kimberly, Terri Joy, Keith, Kristy, Heather, Dave. Jr., Justin, Garrett and Casey, 5 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Friends may visit at Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home on Sunday, October 21, 2012 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 7pm. Services will follow at 7pm. Friends are invited to process from the funeral home on Tuesday at 11am to the Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville for the Interment Service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Chesapeake, 445 Defense Hwy, Annapolis, MD 21401 or the Wounded Warrior Project, G Street NW, Suite 700, Washington, DC 20005.
