Leonora Harris Smith, 89, of Annapolis, died of a stroke Feb. 27 at Ginger Cove Health Center.
Born Nov. 4, 1915, and raised in Baltimore, Mrs. Smith graduated from Western High School when it was an all-girls' school. She graduated from Maryland Institute College of Art School of Interior Design.
She worked as a senior designer at Gomprecht & Benesck in Baltimore and taught interior design at the Baltimore City Education Center. She also taught at the Annapolis and Severna Park branches of the YWCA.
Mrs. Smith was a member of St. Margaret's Episcopal Church where she served as secretary and president of the St. Margaret's Women's Guild. She was among the first docents at the William Paca House and a member of the Anne Arundel Medical Center Auxiliary, the Annapolis Yacht Club and Historic Annapolis Foundation.
The widow of Harold Thomas Smith Sr., she is survived by one son, J. Thomas Smith Jr. of Severna Park; two grandchildren; and two great-grandsons.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. tomorrow at the home of her son. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Margaret's Episcopal Church, 1601 Pleasant Plains Road. Burial will be private. Arrangements are by Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home.
