Leonce Joseph Davis, Jr., 86, a resident of Severna Park, passed away of natural causes on February 8, 2015 at his home.
He was born unto Leonce Davis, Sr. and Emma Davis (nee Buquet) on September 30, 1928 in Houma, LA, where he was raised. He attended Terrebonne High School in Houma and thereafter obtained his Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Nicholls State University. Leonce served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and was stationed in California.
Leonce worked as an accountant with Texaco Oil Company for over 50 years. He worked at various locations throughout his career, with his last long-term assignment being in Luanda, Angola.
He was a strong and lively man who liked to dance the night away, spend time with his family and friends,and help out at St. John the Evangelist Church in Severna Park as an usher. He maintained a beautiful yard with multiple gardens. He loved to cook Cajun food for Sunday night dinners with his family. He was a supportive, generous man and luck was always on his side.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Mary Davis (nee Pellegrin); his daughter, Christie Morrison; and his sister, Julia Pulliam.
He is survived by his daughter Downie Davis Codd and her husband Thomas of Severna Park; his son-in-law John Morrison of Sante Fe, NM; his grandchildren, Caitlin and her husband Nicholas Perunovich of Severna Park, MD, Grace and her husband Matthew Cassilly of Arnold, MD and Christopher Codd of Severna Park, MD; and niece Carol Fourmeaux of Metairie, LA.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at 12:00pm at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church. Inurnment will follow at 2:30 pm at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to "St. John the Evangelist Church", 689 Ritchie Highway, Severna Park, MD 21146 or to the "Society of St. Vincent DePaul, St. John's Conference", c/o St. John the Evangelist, 689 Ritchie Highway, Severna Park MD 21146.
