Leonard " Lenny" Norinsky, 89, a lifelong resident of Baltimore, Maryland passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 13, 2019.
Lenny graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park in 1952 with a BA degree in Communications. He was proud to have been the first University of Maryland football announcer on the campus' radio station. Lenny worked for 34 years as a studio cameraman for WJZ-TV in Baltimore, before retiring in 1992. Lenny was an avid sports fan, whose favorite teams included the Orioles, the Colts/Ravens and the Maryland Terrapins. He enjoyed traveling, watching the horses run at Pimlico Racetrack and playing craps in Atlantic City and Las Vegas. He will be remembered by many for his intellect and witty sense of humor.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Betty (Hartz) Norinsky, daughter Jenny Hird (Bill) and granddaughter, Erin Hird. Also survived by his brother, Norman Norinsky (Sandy) of New York City.
Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, April 16 at 12:00p.m., at United Hebrew Cemetery, 3901 Washington Blvd, Halethorpe, MD 21227.
Shiva will be observed Tuesday evening at 6:30p.m. at 707 Lynn Gate Road, Severna Park, MD.
