Leona Pumphrey Darley, 104, a 25 year resident of Severna Park, died on January 24, 2010, at FutureCare Chesapeake in Arnold, due to natural causes, after a lengthy illness.
She was born on December 8, 1905 in Millersville, MD, where she was raised, and has lived in Glen Burnie for 65 years, prior to moving to Severna Park.
Mrs. Darley was employed with the State of Maryland as a court stenographer, until her retirement.
She was a very active past member of the Glen Burnie United Methodist Church. She loved cooking, spending time with her family, traveling, and gardening.
She is survived by her son, Ralph E. Darley of Severna Park, MD, eight grandchildren, and fourteen great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her late husband, Ralph E. Darley, Sr. and her late brother, William D.T. Pumphrey.
Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Martin's in-the-Field Episcopal Church, 375 Benfield Road, Severna Park, MD 21146.
