Leif J. Norrholm, 75, of Severna Park passed away on September 19, 2019.
Leif was born to Ray (Lehtivuori) and Levi Norrholm on August 8, 1944 in Overmark, Finland. In 1952, they moved to the United States and he was raised in the Bronx, New York City. Leif lived in New York, NY, Gales Ferry, CT, Charleston, SC, Turnersville, NJ, Darnestown, MD and most recently resided in Boynton Beach, FL.
He attended City College of New York, where he received a degree in Physics. He enlisted in the US Navy, attended Officer Candidate School, and then went on to become a Nuclear Engineer in the Navy. After resigning from active duty as a Lieutenant Commander, he worked for the United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission as a resident inspector, subject matter expert on the Commissioner's staff and ultimately as a Branch Chief. Leif retired from the Naval Reserve as a Commander and retired after reaching the Senior Executive Service from the NRC. Leif had many hobbies, including collecting stamps, coins and photography.
He is survived by his loving wife, Ellen Norrholm, of Boynton Beach, FL; his sons, Scott Erik Norrholm (Margi) and Seth Davin Norrholm (Andria); his sisters, Christina Norrholm and Helen Maddeloni; and five grandchildren.
The burial will be held on Thursday, September 26, 2019 at 11:30am at Maryland Veterans Cemetery Crownsville, 1122 Sunrise Beach Rd, Crownsville, MD 21032.
