Lawrence Hamilton Durling, 47, of Arnold, MD, died of cancer on May 2, 2009, at Stella Maris Hospice, surrounded by his family and friends.
He was born in Endicott, NY and moved at an early age to Gainesville, FL, when he was fifteen his family moved to the Annapolis area. Larry graduated from Severna Park High School and the University of Maryland, College Park with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. He was a champion pole vaulter and in college he won several awards for his robotics. His whole career was spent working for the International Consulting Firm of Booz, Allen and Hamilton.
He is survived by his wife Shannon and two young sons, Luke and Mark Durling and is also survived by his father Allen Durling and mother Patricia Hamilton Durling, a sister Clarissa Eckel and her husband Anthony; a brother Kenneth Durling and his wife Deborah. He had two nieces Kara Eckel and Samantha Durling and two nephews Bryan Durling and Andrew Eckel, all his family is from the Annapolis and Arnold Area.
Family and Friends may visit on Tuesday and Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8pm. at Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday at 10am at St. Andrew by the Bay Catholic Church, 701 College Parkway, Annapolis. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery.
