Lawrence Joseph Dolan passed away on April 9, 2023 at his home in Arnold, MD.

Lawrence, known as Larry, was born on May 4th, 1949, to Thomas Joseph Dolan and Anne (nee Tracey) Dolan in Rockville Centre, New York and raised in Lynbrook, New York. He attended Chaminade High School, graduated from Boston College, and later earned his Ph.D. from The University of Chicago. His career focused on educational research in equity and prevention spanning from the University of Rochester, Johns Hopkins University, Bloomberg School of Public Health and Success for All Program, and The College Board.

Larry was an avid reader and collector of information, often challenging his wife with impractical facts. He loved to travel, had great wit, enjoyed classical music and theater, architecture, predominantly the works by Frank Lloyd Wright and reading the Sunday morning version of the New York Times with his coffee. He was well skilled in arriving at the exact time he stated to the minute. Larry loved reading maps and resisted agreeing with GPS. He enjoyed a wide range of culinary cuisines with special pride in finding obscure restaurant locations. Larry earned a reputation for giving the most entertaining wedding speeches in the family. His Catholic faith was a source of strength and fulfillment to him becoming quite active in parish life at St John the Evangelist in Severna Park.

He is survived by his wife Virginia Dolan of 47 years; his daughter Sara Maher and her husband Bryan and their children Ellyana, Willa, and Talulla of Garden City, NY; his daughter Laura Castellanos and her husband Bryan, and their children Timmy and Sienna of Austin, TX; his son Devin Dolan and his wife Madeleine and their children Chloe and Cormac of Rumson, NJ; his siblings Thomas Dolan , Bill Dolan, Anne Mulcahy ,and Bob Dolan, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
