Lawrence George Dixon, Arnold, Maryland, age 76 born in Baltimore, MD departed this world on March 28, 2019 from cancer. He was preceded in death by his mother, Elsie Scherbuk Dixon, father, Lawrence Edward Dixon, sister Elsie Dixon Moore and brother in law, Larry Moore.

Larry is survived by his loving wife, Bonnie Shaw Dixon, daughter, Leanne Dixon Petrides and husband, Jim, son, Larry Dixon II and Shana Sterkin;   step-sons, Timothy Atkinson Jr. and wife, Stephanie, Christopher Atkinson, Matthew Atkinson and wife, Kelly;  grandchildren, Lauren Murray Thiesse and husband, Andrew, Kristen Murray, Ryan Atkinson, London Atkinson, Lily Atkinson, Logan Atkinson, Timothy Atkinson III and Sophie Atkinson; sister, Kathleen Dixon Meyers, and husband Russell; brother John Dixon Sr. and wife Bonnie Marie; nephews John Dixon Jr. and wife Molly, Jason Dixon and wife Heather and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Larry graduated from Patterson High School, Baltimore in 1961 and the University of Baltimore in 1966 with a degree in B.S Degree in Business Management. He was employed as Quality Control Manager for Chevron Corporation, American Cianamide and Bottcher America.

He proudly served in the Maryland National Guard, 2 nd Battalion and 175th Infantry in Baltimore and was accepted into Officer's Candidates School. Upon completion of OCS, he was commissioned as a 2 nd Lieutenant.

Besides the love and company of his family, which always came first, Larry was a passionate hunter and fisherman. He belonged to a Goose Camp in Chestertown, Md for more than 25 years. Many hours were spent on the Chesapeake Bay and tributaries, crabbing and fishing with his friends and son.

A known accomplished story teller of life's adventures, Larry would entertain friends and family with tales of high school football, fraternity days, trips to Ocean City, Goose Camp, traveling to Europe with Bonnie, his new found English family, camping at Ole Mink Farm in Thurmont and his "Book Club" at the Severna Park Pool.

But Larry's greatest joy in life was his family. He also never met a stranger and would smile and talk to anyone he met with his "bigger than life" personality.  Once you were his friend, it was for life. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Family and friends may gather on Wednesday, April 3, 2019 from 1pm to 4pm in the Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Hwy. A funeral ceremony will be held at 4pm immediately following the visitation. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Arnold Volunteer Fire Company and Hospice of the Chesapeake.
