Larry S. Fishman, 62, died on January 24, 2011 after battling cancer for 4 years. He had been a resident of Severna Park, MD for over 25 years.
Larry was born in New Orleans, LA, August 2, 1948. He graduated from Georgia Tech in Atlanta, GA with an Electrical Engineering degree in 1970. He and his wife, Sherry were married in 1970 and moved to Maryland. He attained a Masters degree from George Washington University in Computer Science in 1972. He worked for NSA for 34 years and retired. He then went to work for Booze Allen Hamilton, where he remained an employee until his death.
Larry loved scuba diving, working on his computer, or doing any kind of project that would be helpful around the house or to others. He also loved being with friends and enjoying a micro brew beer; but, more importantly just being with friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Fishman of New Orleans, LA and Mother in Law, Carol Herndon of Newnan, GA. Larry is survived by his wife of 40 years, Sherry; mother, Betty Fishman of New Orleans, LA; brother and sister in law, Bob and Janice Fishman of Sunnyvale, CA; brother and sister in law, Charles and Mary Herndon of Albany, GA; sister and brother in law, Gina and David Dukes of Lawrenceville, GA and niece and nephews; as well as, a large group of wonderfully devoted friends and coworkers.
His wife, Sherry is very grateful for the care that Larry received at Johns Hopkins Hospital on the 4th and 5th floor in the Weinberg Bldg. As well as, the wonderful care that was provided by Dr. Stuart Selonick in Annapolis, prior to his admission to Johns Hopkins Hospital in September, 2010.
Family and friends may attend his memorial service at Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home on Saturday, January 29th, 2011 at 2:30pm.
