On October 26th, the Johnson family and many, many friends lost a loving, energetic, important and caring woman, Kristin Leigh Johnson, who graced everyone who knew her with her energy, intelligence, talent, love and humor. Kristin was born on December 19, 1975 in Baltimore, Maryland. She is survived by her loving parents, James and Linda Johnson; her grandmother, Helen Mitchell; her siblings, Sandi, Courtney, Scott, Katie (Jason), Lisa, Dan (Kate), and Diana (Jack); her beloved nieces and nephews, Jacob, Drew, Ben, Emerson, Zia, Joe, Cameron, Kaylin, and Donovan; and many dear aunts, uncles, and cousins. Kristin also dearly loved her three dogs, Maverick, Camden, and Dexter, who walked with her through life.

Kristin graduated from Severna Park High School in 1993, where she was a Color Guard Captain and played the oboe. She then attended Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, where she made lifelong friendships with her Alpha Phi sorority sisters and received her Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering. She later received her M.B.A. from Arizona State University's W.P. Carey School of Business.

Kristin spent the first 20+ years of her career at Intel in Chandler, Arizona, where she met many wonderful colleagues and friends and left a lasting mark on the company. She moved back to Maryland in 2016 to be closer to her family, and continued her career as the Director of Continuous Improvement at Amtrak. When news of her passing spread, many tears and condolences came from her sorority sisters, from her friends and colleagues at Intel and in Arizona, and from her Amtrak colleagues up and down the Northeast Corridor and in Chicago, Oakland and Los Angeles.

Family was incredibly important to Kristin and she was the consummate fun aunt to her nieces and nephews and her godson, Caden Rieben and his sister Cate. Kristin was the life of every party, and the social director for her family and friends. She was always ready for fun, and loved to get out on a dance floor and celebrate every holiday with decorations and a silly outfit. She had a love of nature, breweries, movies, concerts, family games, cornhole, baseball, karaoke, and spa days. She constantly put together events, trips and game nights and made sure everyone showed up and had a good time. She shared her love of travel with her family, organizing trips to Italy, Spain, France, Mexico, Hawaii, New York City, and New Orleans, among many others, and cherished the yearly Johnson family trips to Bethany Beach, Delaware.

Kristin passed away in a tragic accident on October 26th, 2021, while doing what she loved, hiking with her family. We are heartbroken over the sudden loss of our sweet Kristin, but are helped by the knowledge of how many lives she influenced, and how much joy she brought to so many people.

Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, November 5, 2021 at St. John the Evangelist Church on Ritchie Highway in Severna Park, Maryland.
