Ki Sun Chadwick, age 86, passed away on February 18, 2024, after battling both cancer and Alzheimers dementia. She was born in a small village in the southern part of Korea, the second youngest of five sisters and two brothers.

Ki Sun is preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Bob, her parents, two of her older sisters, and both of her brothers. She is survived by her two sons, Bryon and Mikeial (Dierdre), as well as 7 loving grandchildren, Katie (Adam) Liga, Mikeial, Jr. (Carmen) Chadwick, B.J. (Faith) Chadwick, Kayleigh Smith, Timothy Chadwick, Johnathan Chadwick, and Cameron Chadwick, and 7 great grandchildren, Wyatt, Alaina, and Colton Liga, Oliver Chadwick, and Avery, Nova and Cohen Chadwick. She is also survived by one older sister, one younger sister, and several nieces and nephews.

Bob and Ki met in Korea while he was serving during the Vietnam War. She owned a small shop that sold snacks and clothing, and this is where they met. They married in 1968, living in Seoul, where Bryon was born, and then were stationed in Okinawa, Japan, where Mikeial was born. Ki told stories of the friends from both of these places, some of them remaining friends for life. When they returned stateside in 1973, they were stationed in Maryland, where Ki and Bob would enjoy the rest of their life together. Mrs. Chadwick continued to serve the military community through her many years of work at Andrews Air Force Base. She spoke fondly of the service members she was able to care for by providing food and a smile (and sometimes an extra helping). She retired from Andrews after 18 years of service and was greatly missed by her supervisors and coworkers.

This is one of the ways Ki shared her love with her family, too. The first questions she would ask are if you were hungry and if you were okay. She was so proud of her children, her grandchildren, and her great grandchildren and couldn't wait to share their pictures and tell of their accomplishments. One of Ki's most cherished moments was when she earned her United States citizenship in 1998. She kept the flag from that day displayed proudly in her home until she passed. Ki Sun Chadwick was quick to help, share a smile or a hug, is greatly loved, and will be greatly missed.
