Kevin Michael Mooney, born in Washington D.C. on November 23,1959 to Walter and Patsy (Lacy) Mooney, passed away suddenly at his home of 28 years in Severna Park, MD of heart failure on December 26, 2020. He was 61 years old. Kevin grew up in Fairfax, VA and was a proud graduate of Chantilly High School and George Mason University. He loved sports, both watching and playing. He spent his childhood playing Little League and participated in many sports during high school. He was an avid Redskins fan and even saw them win a Super Bowl.

Kevin worked for Giant Food for 20 years, working his way through high school and college at various stores, then joined the corporate office as an Accounting Manager after college. He also served on the Credit Committee at the Giant Federal Credit Union. In 2002, Kevin began a 5-year career as a Real Estate Agent and stay-at-home Dad. His year's at home with his sons were a gift to him and his family. He has spent the last 9 years working at UMBC as a HR Specialist and loving this chapter of work life on a college campus.

Kevin married the love of his life, Tracey (Fillius) in 1992, and together they were a team that balanced each other's strengths and weaknesses into a good life and a happy home. He was a lover of so many things, but most of all his two boys, Josh (26) and Jake (23). Together, they shared a love of music, movies, theatre, sports, beer and cigars. He was proud of them and especially loved their high school years, watching them in Rock and Roll Revival and seeing Jake play sports. He was a habitual audience member to every theatre production that Josh has ever appeared in, never tiring of seeing him on stage. He was the best friend of his too-many-to-name pups, all who worshipped him. Kevin was a published poet who wrote from his heart and often about life events. He found Christ in his adulthood and spent a good deal of his 20's and 30's worshipping with his friends at Forcey Memorial Church.

Kevin has been a good neighbor in Magothy Forest, serving them over the years in roles of Community Association President, VP and Treasurer. He has been known to host impromptu Happy Hours from his garage and laugh loudly with his guests while playing his extensive music collection.

He is survived by his wife Tracey, sons Josh and Jake, sister Christa Oconnor - all of Severna Park - and his best dog, Dasher. Also survived by brother Steven Mooney of Stafford, VA. He is predeceased by his brother Mark Mooney and their parents. He leaves behind a rich legacy of love, life and friendship.

Due to COVID-19 there will be no services. The family asks that you make a Toast to Kevin and honor his memory with donations to Independent Dialysis Foundation or your favorite animal charity.
