Obituary

Listen to Obituary
Kent Stow, 73, of Severna Park, MD, died on November 2, 2017, in the far away land of Papua New Guinea.

Kent worked for General Electric for 20 years, many of those years in the space program.  He was the proverbial rocket scientist.  Following GE, Kent owned a land development company in Anne Arundel County.  He had a great concern for the environment and was awarded for being a "green" developer.

Kent had a passion for travel.  His goal was to see all of the islands in the world.  He made it to many of them, often taking along family and friends.  In a way, it was fitting that Kent died on yet another island quest.

Kent's other passion was his family, for whom he could not do enough or be with often enough.  Kent was that Grandpa who went to as many concerts, school programs, and sporting events as he could.  He was always on the sidelines for his grandkids, cheering them on.

Kent always had time for friends, was the consummate giver, and did what he could, when he could, for everyone.  His reach was far and wide, his presence experienced by many.  He was, truly, larger than life.

Kent lived life enthusiastically and all of us who went on a journey with him will hold him in our hearts and be forever grateful.

Kent is survived by his loving wife, Nancy Stow; his son, Steven Stow (Yayoi) of Hamamatsu, Japan; three daughters, Sharon Acosta (Jim) of Arnold, MD, Jennifer Foreman (Michael) of Severna Park, MD and Kathleen Mallory (Kevin) of Charleston, SC; five brothers, Richard Stow (Jaqui) of Beeville, TX, Douglas Stow of St. George, UT, Robert Nutter (Linda) of St. Marys, GA, Michael Nutter (Chele) of Baltimore, MD, David Nutter (Jenna) of Peoria, AZ and a sister, Cherie Brant (John) of Ventura, CA; as well seven granchildren.

A gathering will be held on Wednesday, November 22, 2017 from 5pm - 7pm at the Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Hwy, Severna Park. Interment will be private.
