Kenneth Wilson Davis, 84, a resident of Charlestown in Catonsville, Maryland died peacefully on January 24 surrounded by family at St. Agnes Hospital. Ken was born in North Haven, Connecticut, served honorably in the United States Navy, and received his Bachelor of Science from Purdue University in 1951 where he was President of the Service Fraternity Alpha Phi Omega. Ken and his wife lived in Severna Park, Maryland for 28 years before moving to Charlestown in 2010.
He was employed as an executive with the Boy Scouts of America for 42 years, retiring in 1993. Having earned the rank of Eagle Scout as a youth, he is a distinguished life member of the National Eagle Scout Association. He was an active member of Severna Park United Methodist Church serving as a caring Stephen Minister, a Volunteer in Missions, a Spiritual Gifts Leader, founder of XYZ (Extra Years of Zest) senior fellowship group, and creator of the Church's Memorial Garden.
His interests included gardening, camping, board games, cards and spending time with family, especially a yearly vacation at Deep Creek Lake.
He is preceded in death by his brother Richard Davis of Wallingford, Connecticut and daughter-in-law Barbara Lynn Davis of Manassas, Virginia.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years Barbara Lane Davis, son Scott Davis of Manassas, Virginia, two daughters Sandra O'Donnell and husband Kevin of Catonsville, Maryland, Jacqueline Dickinson and husband Richard of Medford, New Jersey, two sisters, Arlene Burr and her husband Morris of Hampton, Connecticut, Lorraine Trudell and her husband Lawrence of Cheshire, Connecticut, sister-in-law Elaine Davis of Wallingford, Connecticut, and 6 grandchildren.
Family and friends may visit on Friday, January 27, 2012 from 4-7 pm at Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Hwy, Severna Park, MD 21146. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2012 at 11:00 am at Severna Park United Methodist Church, 731 Benfield Road, Severna Park, MD 21146. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in the name of Mr. Davis to the Severna Park Methodist Church Memorial Garden Fund.
