IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Kenneth "Ken"

It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of David Kenneth Counts, Jr. age 82 of Severna Park Maryland. Kenneth suffered a fatal heart attack in his home on July 07, 2025.
Kenneth was born on April 10,1943 in Charlotte, North Carolina to the late Cornelia Rhyne Counts and David Kenneth Counts, Sr. Kenneth graduated from Myers Park High School, Charlotte, N.C. and the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, N.C. He also attended the University of Denver and Hunter College, NYC. Residing in New York City, he was employed by McLaughlin Research Corporation as a technical writer and worked in New York State for Otis Elevator Company as a microprocessor Engineer for 10 years. From there he moved to Severna Park, Maryland securing employment with General Elevator Company as a manager of development Engineer. Kenneth retired from the elevator industry as an acting Supervisory Engineer with the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority in Washington,DC. As a dedicated elevator engineer, Kenneth was very proud of the opportunity to be one of the personnel to supervise and work with installation of the elevator systems in the original New York Trade Center.
Kenneth was an avid reader of all subjects especially enjoying mystery novels. He also enjoyed capturing nature and travel experiences as an amateur photographer. However, the love of his life was music. Kenneth, a French Horn performer, was a member of community orchestras in New York City and Westchester County Orchestra while living in New York State. For many years since the move to Maryland he was a member of the Baltimore Philharmonic Orchestra, Anne Arundel Community Orchestra and Band. Also, he recently performed with the Maryland Marine Band. Kenneth was a dedicated horn performer for over 45 years. We are so happy that he spent the day before his demise performing for a Maryland community function. We all will miss our dear kind 'Kenny'. Kenneth is survived by his wife Diane Tutherow Counts of Severna Park, Md, his brother Clifford Counts, wife, Carol Counts, many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
