Katie Lin
Sherman
October 24, 1980 – October 7, 2022
Katie Lin (Suvoy) Sherman, 41, of Arnold, passed away on October 7, 2022.
Katie was born to her parents, John and Grace (Sobolak) Suvoy on October 24, 1980 in Sharon, PA, where she was raised. She was raised in a Christian home and fully gave her life to following and service Jesus Christ. She was baptized at Cherry Dale Baptist Church in 2005. She was a graduate of Sharon High School and Penn State University, where she earned her Bachelor's degree in Marketing. She was later employed as a commercial property manager managing Class A office space in Washington DC and earned her Certified Property Manager credentials through the Institute of Real Estate Management.
Katie married Andrew Sherman on December 31, 2005 and they lived in NC, VA and GA, before settling in Arnold in 2016. She enjoyed their time together whether it was date nights, watching college football games (hoping Penn State and Auburn would win their games), rooting for the Capitals, or playing basketball or golf. In addition, Katie and Drew enjoyed running casually, as well as, running races, including the Annapolis half marathon and the Marine Corps Marathon.
Katie and Drew were blessed with two daughters, Beth Anne and Lainey Kate. Katie took the greatest pleasure in creating fun activities, excursions and vacations for the her family as well as attending the girls field hockey and lacrosse activities. Additionally, they enjoyed family movie nights with King Size Candy, snowboarding and daily walks with the family's golden retriever, Sonny.
Her number one goal in life was to, along with Drew, raise her girls to become Godly ladies. One of the last prayers she wrote is as follows: "Dear God, I pray that Beth Anne and Lainey would marry a Christian man of faith. I pray that he would be a provider and protector." Even when she was struggling the most in life, she gave everything of herself to her husband and daughters.
Next to being a mom and wife, she excelled by being an awesome aunt to 7 nieces and nephews. As an aunt, the enjoyed shopping, Friday Fun Nights, and earned the nickname, "Cool Aunt Katie" by letting them do things that their own parents would not allow. Katie was also "Cousin Katie" to her first cousin's families who she was extremely close.
She enjoyed planning gatherings with extended family such as going to games to cheer on her cousin Mark's baseball team or Wigilia, her family's polish Christmas celebration. Her favorite week of the year was the annual beach vacation because most of her family would be together enjoying life for the whole week. One of her favorite nights of the year was going out for dinner at the beach for "Cousins' Night Out". Her favorite place on earth was North Carolina, and she often talked about wanting to retire there.
Katie cherished relaxing days with her parents and the family meals they shared with one another. She loved to watch her parents and girls in engage in fun times together. She also enjoyed visits with her in-laws.
Katie enjoyed putting special touches on family gatherings, creating birthday parties for her girls, dressing beautifully, and choosing gifts that were incredibly fitting to the gift receiver. She took great pride in watching people's faces show excitement as she gave them the thoughtful gift.
Katie was loved and admired. She meant so much to so many.
