Kathryn Elizabeth Graf (Gordon), 81, a resident of Arnold, passed away peacefully on February 7 th , 2019 after a brief illness.  She was born in Shevlin, Minnesota on June 25, 1937 to the late Anthony Orlando Gordon and Gertrude Elizabeth Gordon (Anderson) and was delivered into this world by her grandmother Oliva Gordon, a well-known midwife in Shevlin.

Kathryn graduated from the Bagley, Minnesota school system and received her teaching degree from Bemidji State University.  She taught typing, shorthand, and accounting in Anne Arundel county for over 30 years, at Severna Park, Fort Meade and Annapolis high schools.  She enjoyed selling tickets for football and basketball games and sponsored the Future Business Leaders of America student program.

Kathryn had a life-long love of music.  From a young age she played the clarinet, the piano and sang in the choir.  She was a 50 year member of the Our Shepherd Lutheran Church choir and especially enjoyed performing Christmas music.  She was later a member at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church.  Kathryn's greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren and sons.  Kathryn passed her love of music to granddaughter Caroline, an aspiring singer and guitar player. They spent hours playing music on a small children's keyboard.  Kathryn also loved crosswords and Scrabble and managed to find ways to lose hundreds of games to granddaughters Emma, Sara and Caroline.  She treasured her time with dear friends in sewing club during the last forty-two years.  Kathryn enjoyed travel with husband Charles throughout the U.S. and Canada and Europe, including several long trips by travel trailer to the American west.  She took pride in her Norwegian heritage and visited her ancestral homeland shortly after her retirement; she also enjoyed collecting native sweaters, porcelain, and other mementos of Norway.

Kathryn is survived by husband Charles Graf, sons David Graf (Heidi) and Daniel Graf (Abby) and granddaughters Emma, Sara, and Caroline.  A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 16 at 9 a.m. at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 461 College Pkwy, Arnold, MD 21012. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to the National Osteoporosis Foundation at the following link: https://my.nof.org/donate
