Kathleen Elizabeth Long (nee Pettebone) passed away on May 9 ^th , 2023 at Anne Arundel Medical Center. She was born on April 28, 1945 to John Elliott Pettebone, Jr. and Elsie Mae Pettebone (nee Gyles) of Annapolis, Maryland.

Kathye grew up in Annapolis, MD, specifically in St. Margaret's, and graduated from Annapolis High School in 1963. She attended Meredith College in Raleigh, NC and continued her studies at the University of Maryland. Kathye was married to Ralph Eugene Long, Jr. (Gene) in July 1975. They lived in the greater Annapolis area including Crownsville, Glen Burnie, and settled in Severna Park. Kathye was an Editor in the scientific print media industry. She sang in the choir at St. Martin's-in-the-Field Episcopal Church, Severna Park for many years.

Kathye was predeceased by her husband of 48 years. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Bonnie D. Pettebone, her brother-in-law Wilbur L. Long (Bill) and his wife Christine M. Long (Chris), nephews Thomas E. Long (Dana) and David H. Long (Rose), and her loving cousins, Robert J. Pettebone (Ellen), C. David Pettebone, Lori Pettebone-Koraganie (Amin), Jennifer Joy Angel (Jon), K. Erin Hemelt (Michael), Ryan R. Maatta (Courtney), and Brady Elliott Pettebone.. She is also survived by her close friend, David B. Barnes.
