Kathleen Butterfield Paquette, 52, a resident of Severna Park for 13 years and formerly of Claremont, Calif., died of complications following colon cancer surgery Jan. 7 at Anne Arundel Medical Center after a two-week illness.
Mrs. Paquette was born May 26, 1952, in Caledonia, Mich., where she graduated from Caledonia High School in 1970. She earned a bachelor of science degree in nursing from the University of Michigan in 1974 and a master's degree in divinity from the School of Theology at Claremont in California in 1993.
She worked for the Arlington County, Va., school system as a nurse in the late 1970s, the United Christian Parish in Reston, Va., as youth minister in the early 1980s and was Southern California United Church of Christ Conference Coordinator in the late 1980s.
Subsequently, she served as youth minister at Mount Carmel United Methodist Church in Pasadena in the early 1990s and vice-president of administration for Refractory Composite Inc. in Glen Burnie until recently.
She was a member of Woods Memorial Presbyterian Church, where she served as a Stephen's Minister and a ChristCare leader.
Surviving are her husband, Edward L. "Ted" Paquette, whom she married May 20, 1975; three sons, Daniel Edward Paquette of Riverview, Mich., Aaron Gordon Paquette of Ashland, Mass., and Nathan David Paquette of Severna Park; and one brother, Gordon Butterfield, one sister, Nancy Howard, and her mother, Gail Esther Butterfield, all of Rockford, Mich.
A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. tomorrow at Woods Memorial Presbyterian Church, 611 Baltimore-Annapolis Blvd., in Severna Park. Burial is private. Arrangements are by Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home.
