Kathleen Antoinette “Toni” Muller (née Morrell), 83, of Severna Park, MD, peacefully passed away on Sunday, May 24, 2026, at Sunrise of Severna Park following a decade-long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Known by many as a kind and compassionate person, Toni loved to travel and through her work as a travel agent helped many area residents discover the world along with her.
Toni was born on November 26, 1942, in San Antonio, TX, to Kathleen (née Hook) and Robert Hanly Morrell, while her father was serving as a training pilot for the Army Air Corps during the Second World War. The first of five children, Toni grew up on her family’s farm in Horrell Hill, SC, during the periods when they were not stationed in various towns across the country. In 1960, she graduated from Lower Richland High School in Hopkins, SC, where she was voted Miss Hi-Miss on the basis of her character, citizenship, and leadership. In high school, she served as Secretary of the Student Council, President of the local Library Club, Reporter for the Senior Class, and as a Member of the Beta Team. She was also active as a cheerleader and, at just 5’3” tall, was a forward on the basketball team. She went on to attend Agnes Scott College in Decatur, GA, graduating in 1964.
Following college, Toni became a flight attendant for Pan American Airlines based out of Miami, FL, often working the South American routes. In 1965, she married Thomas Malcom “Tom” Muller of West Palm Beach, FL, who was working as a crime lab technician for the Coral Gables Police Department. Toni continued to fly for a period before taking a job with Eastern Steamship Lines.
In 1968 and 1970, she gave birth to her two sons, Jeffrey McKenzie “Jeff” Muller and Robert Bradford “Brad” Muller, both born in Dade County, FL. In October 1970, the young family moved to Severna Park, MD, when Tom was offered the position of Director of the Crime Lab with the Baltimore Police Department. After working as a full-time mother for several years, Toni went back to work in 1974, taking a position as a travel agent with Severn Travel in Severna Park. After several years as an employee, she and a few colleagues purchased the agency from the previous owner in 1978, with Toni continuing to co-own and manage the business until 2013, when it was sold to World Travel Service.
In addition to helping people plan their trips, Toni took every opportunity to explore the world, traveling either with Tom or her entire family. Together, they explored more than forty countries, from Oceania to South America, the Caribbean to the Mediterranean, and beyond. In addition to travel, Toni loved game shows, having appeared on one with her parents when she was growing up. Her favorite was Jeopardy.
She was preceded in death by her infant brother, Robert Hanly Morrell, Jr.; her parents, Kathleen and Robert Morrell; her husband, Tom; her sister, Mary Haygood (née Morrell); and her brother, Robert Hanly “Bob” Morell, II.
She is survived by her children, Jeff Muller (and his wife, Sarah Preston) and Brad Muller (and his wife, Diana Giglio); her grandchildren, Langston and Hanly Muller; her brother, Mark Morrell (and his wife, Terri); and her many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
