Kathleen L. Muhly, 71, of Arnold, MD, passed away peacefully at Baltimore Washington Medical Center on January 7, 2021. Kathy was born on January 18, 1949 to Thomas and Oma "Jean" McQuay and grew up in the Hawthorne neighborhood of Middle River, MD. She graduated from Kenwood High School.

After high school Kathy married Edwin C. Muhly, Jr. She was married to "Sonny" for 40 years until his passing in 2012. Kathy and Sonny spent decades continuing and growing the generations old family business, Muhly's GEM Bakery.

Both loved to travel, taking many trips to snow ski, tour America (and some of Europe), take cruises and visit family. Kathy also loved boating with her husband and daughter, gardening, and quilting. After retirement she became more active in several quilting guilds. Her favorite thing to do was spend time with family, whether they were related by blood, marriage, or choice. Kathy will be missed by many and will be remembered by all that knew her for her generosity and zest for life!.

Kathy is survived by her daughter, Sonya Muhly (Lynelle Stunkard) of Bowie, MD and her siblings, Patricia (Joe) Sedivy, Darlene (John) Oldewurtle, Darla Patty, Sharon (Gerry) Hunt and Michael (Kim) McQuay. She also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews, as well as her beloved South Dakota family, Louis and Hanna Sitting Crow and kin.

Due to COVID restrictions, a private online memorial will be held for family members with a celebration of her life to follow later this year.
