Kathleen Norris Davis Kimbrell, 78, a resident of Severna Park, died suddenly of pneumonia Oct. 20th at Anne Arundel Medical Center.
Born Nov. 25, 1925, in San Diego, Calif., the daughter of the late Navy Capt. Elmer Olcott and Ethel Marie Davis, Mrs. Kimbrell was reared in California, Maryland, New York and Panama. She graduated from Westbury High School in Long Island, N.Y., and attended Alelphi College in Garden City, N.Y., and Juilliard School of Music in New York City, where she majored in voice.
Mrs. Kimbrell was named for the late author Kathlen Thompson Norris, whom her parents met while on their honeymoon in Cape May, N.J.
She worked as a model for John Powers Model Agency in New York and had been featured in Cosmopolitan magazine.
Among her interests were puzzles, knitting, playing bridge and swimming, for which she had several life-saving pins. She also enjoyed singing and often sang during the weddings of friends.
She was the widow of her husband of 60 years, Air Force Lt. Col. William Wylie Kimbrell, who died in 2003.
Surviving is one daughter, Pamela Dawn D. Kimbrell of Severna Park.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. today and 2 to 5 p.m. tomorrow at Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway in Severna Park. A funeral Mass will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 689 Ritchie Highway, Severna Park. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Annapolis.
