Karyn Lynn (Fabiszak) Proctor, age 49, of Olney, MD succumbed to lung cancer on December 27th, 2012 at Montgomery Hospice's Casey House.
Karyn was born in Baltimore, raised in Harrisburg, PA and graduated from Susquehanna Township High School in Harrisburg. She earned a B.A. Degree in Communications from Towson University in Towson, MD.
She began her work history as a manager for Domino's Pizza. Her love of the English language and teaching resulted in a position as an adjunct instructor at Hood College teaching Time Management (even though Karyn was famous for being late). Most recently she worked as a substitute teacher within the Montgomery County School System for special education children.
Karyn's passions included her children, the beach, classic rock music and grammar. She loved to send handwritten cards and notes to those she loved. She delighted in learning about others (referred to as the "Spanish Inquisition" from those who knew her), and loved to laugh. She was unmatched in her knowledge of entertainment trivia, and her family reluctantly admits that she was the champion at Scrabble. Above all, Karyn was a beautiful person inside and out, and a devoted loving mother to her children and students. She will be hugely missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by her children Kendall Lauren Proctor, age 19, and Michael Kenneth Proctor, age 16 of Olney, her parents Susann Helene (Gardner) Fabiszak and Kenneth John Fabiszak of Tilghman Island, MD, her sister Susan Tracey Shultz and brother-in-law Jeffrey Shultz of Severna Park, MD, and her nephew Peter Jeffrey Shultz, of Baltimore, MD.
A Memorial Service will take place at Our Shepherd Lutheran Church, 400 Benfield Blvd, Severna Park, MD on Saturday, January 19th, 2013 at 11:00 am, with a reception to follow the service.
Expressions of sympathy may be made as memorial contributions to the Casey House of Montgomery Hospice, 6001 Muncaster Mill Road, Rockville, MD 20855 (http://www.montgomeryhospice.org/patients/caseyhouse.php).
