Karen Trent

Karen Lee Trent, 58, of Millersville, died of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease Jan. 3 at her home after a lengthy illness.

The daughter of Raymond O. and Helen V. Trent of Severna Park, Ms. Trent was born Nov. 8, 1948, in Baltimore, reared in Severna Park and also resided in Annapolis and Ocean City. In 1966 she graduated from Severna Park High School.

She worked for the Social Security Administration and the Anne Arundel County Employees Credit Union before retiring from the Maryland Department of Natural Resources in 1997.

A member of the Maryland Classified Employees Association and AARP, Ms. Trent loved her pets and enjoyed reading and doing crossword puzzles.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband, Brian R. Hastings of Berlin in Worcester County; and four sisters, Linda R. Hartlove, Carol L. Coffin and Sandra J. Price, all of Severna Park, and Patricia A. Lambden of Millington.

Visitation is from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow at Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway, where services will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday. Burial will be in Glen Haven Memorial Park in Glen Burnie. Memorial contributions may be made to Hope House, 26 Marbury Drive, Crownsville, MD 21032.
