Karen Marlene Stevens, 47, of Annapolis, died at home on November 17, 2009 due to cancer.
She was born on July 19, 1962 in Ann Arbor, Michigan and raised in Kettering, MD. She later lived in Greenbelt, prior to moving to Annapolis in 1994.
Mrs. Stevens worked as a pediatric nurse and was a Masters Swimmer, teaching for the SPY Aquatics program and Cape Saint Claire Swim Club. In addition, Mrs. Stevens served as a Deacon at Christ Our Anchor Presbyterian Church. She was also an instructor for the American Red Cross and volunteered at her children's schools and throughout the community. She enjoyed swimming, kayaking, skiing, ice skating, scrapbooking and taking care of her family.
Mrs. Stevens is survived by her husband, Christopher W. Stevens and four children, Michael C. Stevens, Matthew R. Stevens, Luke D. Stevens, and Annamarie E. Stevens, all of the home; her parents, John and Judith Leese of Annapolis; her brothers, James A. Leese of Elkridge, and Kevin D. Leese of Columbia; and her sister, Nancy Tuck of Lilburn, GA.
A friend and family gathering honoring Karen will be held at Severna Park Community Center – Youth Center at 623 Baltimore Annapolis Blvd. Severna Park, MD 21146 on Friday, November 20 from 7:00-9:00pm. Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service at Christ Our Anchor Presbyterian Church on November 21st, 2009 at 1:00pm.
