Reverend June Ruth Michaelson Taylor, daughter of Judge Benjamin Michaelson, Sr. and Naomi (Dill) Michaelson, became an angel at the age of 83 on Sunday, May 22, 2016 surrounded by her family at Frederick Memorial Hospital, following a lengthy illness. She was a graduate of Annapolis High School and Goucher College, and went on to Union Theological Seminary, where she met and married the love of her life, Thomas W. Taylor, whom she loved for 62 years. June accompanied him to the mission field of South Korea and served there for five years. After attending McCormick Seminary, she was ordained as one of the first female Presbyterian ministers and served as the Director of Chaplaincy Services at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. June retired to serve the Ephrata Community Hospital before moving to York, Pa. to be near family and continued to serve as a volunteer chaplain prior to her illness.
She will also be missed by her children, Rebecca (Paul) DeLameter of Frederick, Md., Michael (Theresa) Taylor of Albuquerque, NM, her four grandchildren, Peter and Kelly DeLameter, of Frederick, and Joshua and Rachel Taylor, of Albuquerque, her brother, Benjamin (Joan) Michaelson, Jr. of Annapolis, Md., and her extended family.
June was a teacher and caregiver, caring for the least as well as the greatest of us, having a special passion for women and children in need. She served on the board of Cocalico Place, and was an active member of Rotary International, along with several other service organizations. June loved to entertain, being a master in the kitchen and at hosting. Sewing was her passion and she always had several projects going simultaneously. A servant of the Lord for her entire life, she now rests in his arms.
