IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Julia Ann
Dirado (Superczynski)
March 18, 1939 – May 25, 2023
Julia Ann DiRado, nee Superczynski, died on May 25, 2023 at her home in Arnold, MD. She was born on March 18, 1939 to Michael and Anna (nee Sliwka) Superczynski. Her early days were spent in Annapolis with her parents, brother Michael, and her Busia (Grandmother) working their family farm and making regular visits to Fells Point, Baltimore, to visit family and sell flowers, fruits, and other crops at Broadway Market. After attending Polish kindergarten in Baltimore, she attended Arnold Elementary School (now the Arnold Senior Center). She enjoyed taking the train on the B&A track (now Trail) from Arnold station into Annapolis to attend church each week. "Super", as many classmates knew her, graduated from St. Mary's High School, Class of 1957. After high school, she went on to become a nurse, training at St. Agnes Nursing School where she made lifelong friendships that remained to death. Nursing was her true calling in every way! She had a passion for people and helping them through illness or difficulties. Julie worked at Anne Arundel General Hospital before pursuing a 30-year career with the Anne Arundel County Department of Health.
In 1972 Julia married Justin DiRado of Greensburg, PA and they had two daughters, Mary Ann and Lucia. For a short time they lived in and around Greensburg before returning to Annapolis, where Julie continued her service to the people of Anne Arundel County as a public health nurse. It was during this time she worked in one of her favorite positions serving the Broadneck peninsula at St. Margarets Health Center.
In all the world nothing meant more to Julie than her Catholic faith and her family! Her relationship with God, and a sense of humor, gave her the strength to overcome many obstacles in life; including surviving cancer twice. She exuberantly embraced her role as aunt to the seven sons of her only sibling Mike and his wife Bea. Known by her nephews and their friends as "Auntie"; she loved them, teased them and loved to tease them. She always had a smile and a joke to share but most of all loved each one of them like they were her adopted children; Michael, Tom, Joe, Bill, Matt, Stephen, Andrew and their wives and children all had a very special place in Auntie's heart!
Her favorite role in life was that of Granny where she got to share her faith, love, cooking, creativity, laughter, and mischief in spoiling two of the luckiest grandkids in the world. Her "kiddos", Isaac and Rachel, gave her final years purpose and joy! She was blessed to spend her final days in their company while living with her daughter and son-in-law, Mary Ann and Ken Moore.
