IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Judith A.
Alewine
October 4, 1940 – July 8, 2024
Judith Ann Alewine, 83, of Severna Park passed away peacefully in her home on July 8, 2024 surrounded by family. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend who was always there when needed, offering support, wisdom, and love in abundance.
The oldest of 3 children, she was born on October 4,1940, to Francis and Geraldine Jordan in Washington D.C.. She grew up in Takoma Park and attended Holy Names Academy of Silver Spring, MD, graduating in 1958 before attending college classes at the University of Maryland.
In her early career, Judy worked at Geico Insurance, as an underwriter, and then later worked with the U.S. Census Bureau, before spending over 10 years working at Mindy's Country Cottage in Severna Park, MD.
She married the love of her life, Robert D. Alewine, on September 23, 1961. They had a very active life together, moving every few years before settling in Severna Park, MD in 1974 where they remained for the next 50 years. Over time, they traveled the entire east coast, from Nova Scotia to Key West, and other points that Judy cherished including New Orleans and Hawaii. Marathon Key was her favorite place to be, where they owned a second home; watching the ocean, sipping drinks, and playing board games.
Judy loved to garden and had dozens of birds visit each day. She was an avid fan of the Baltimore Orioles and listened to thousands of games over the years. Those who knew her will recall her love of beautiful seashells and coral. Judy was an amazing cook and expressed her love for family and friends by making their favorite dishes on their birthdays.
Judy was extraordinarily organized and tidy. She was the person to get things done and usually right away. There was not anything she would not do for her family or friends. Judy treasured family holidays and always decorated the house impressively for whatever the occasion, and giving the most thoughtful gifts for each of her loved ones.
Judy loved her family with all her heart and was preceded in death by her beloved daughter Joanne M. Alewine and her dear brother James F. Jordan.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 63 years, Robert D. Alewine, of Maryland; her beloved daughters, Jennifer L. Bevins (George) and Bethanie G. Stratton (David); her beloved son Christopher S. Alewine (Dara), her dear sister Janice Chiesa (Bob); and her adored grandchildren, Joshua M. Woodard, Sarah L. Bevins, Jonah H. Alewine, Brooke E. Stratton, Avery D. Stratton and Elia J. Alewine.
