Judge John G. "Jack" Underwood, 90, a resident of Punta Gorda, FL (formerly of Severna Park), died on January 21, 2012, at Johns Hopkins Hospital-Bayview in Baltimore, surrounded by his family and loved ones.
Jack was born and educated at Baltimore City College. He graduated from North Carolina State and in 1950 from the University of Baltimore Law School, receiving the following degrees: LLB, LLM, JD.

He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII in the Pacific Theatre. Jack became a trial attorney for the Baltimore Transit Company ( MTA) and the Legal Aid Bureau in Baltimore. He also served as a United States Attorney for Maryland. Judge Underwood was employed by the Federal Trade Commission in Washington D.C. during the 1960's, and then became a Federal Administrative Law Judge for Health , Education, and Welfare starting in 1975, retiring in June 1995. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church in Severna Park, MD, where he was Past President of the Parish Council; member of the Knights of Columbus in Baltimore; and of the Chartwell Golf and Country Club in Severna Park. Judge Underwood was also a member of the Burnt Store Marina and Country Club in Punta Gorda, FL.

His interests include golf, theatre, ballet, opera, fishing, and spending time with his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Mary Rose Madden Underwood, and his daughter, Kathy Underwood.

Survivors include his daughter, Jacqueline Underwood and son-in-law, Dave Turner of Hyannis, MA, and his wife, Shannon Fagan Underwood of Punta Gorda, FL.

Family and friends may visit on Tuesday, January 24, 2012 from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Hwy, Severna Park, MD 21146.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at 10:00 AM at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 689 Ritchie Hwy, Severna Park 21146.
Interment will be in the Mount Olive Cemetery in Baltimore, MD.
