Joyce Rita Wood of Severna Park, MD passed away peacefully on October 1st, 2025, at the age of 89. She was born in the vibrant city of New Orleans, Louisiana on February 22nd, 1936 to the late Julia Guillot Bourgeois and Lawrence Paul Bourgeois, Sr. Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Robert B. Wood, Sr (married 63 years) and her grandson, Daniel and three brothers, Lawrence Jr, Irving, and Adolf Bourgeois and her sister Gloria Duvieilh.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, three children: Robert (Carolyn), Mark (Jill), and Jeffrey (Amy). Each of her children carries a piece of her nurturing spirit and strength into their own lives. Joyce's legacy continues to flourish through her adoring grandchildren: Justin (Danielle), Brittney, Travis, Shannon, Jennifer, Dylan, Nathan, and Colt. And she was blessed with one great grandchild, Natalie, and one more blessing on the way. Joyce was there to celebrate their successes and support them. Her surviving siblings: Laigj Bourgeois (Mary), and Gerald Bourgeois (Judy), shared with her a bond that was both tender and enduring. She was a woman of quiet strength, whose influence will be felt for generations to come. Joyce will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Her love for cooking has been passed on to her children and grandchildren. Those recipes will be passed down to future generations. Joyce's passion for gardening and love for painting served as an inspiration for many.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Friday, October 17th, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Barranco Funeral Home in Severna Park. Service will be officiated by clergy from St. John's Catholic Church. Joyce will be laid to rest in Crownsville Veterans Cemetery.
