Joyce Evans was born on March 3, 1935 in Baltimore, Maryland. She had an amazing life.

She attended Glen Burnie High School and graduated in June 1953. She married Gary Melvin Evans Sr. October 10, 1953 and moved to Glen Burnie, Maryland. She lived in Anne Arundel County all her life. After high school graduation she started working for the Treasury Department in Annapolis. She worked many other places in her life but finally secured a position with the U.S. Small Business Administration as a Forensic Accountant. She worked for the SBA for 29 years and retired in 2004.

She was always involved with her children's activities and her family was first and foremost. She had several hobbies she loved, which included sewing, painting and coloring, and reading. She always enjoyed attending family events and loved being with family during the holidays; Christmas was her favorite holiday.

She is survived by her daughter and three sons: Victoria Evans Hilburn (Stephen), Gary Melvin Evans Jr., Russell B. Evans (Marty) and Michael A. Evans. She has four grandchildren: Cristal V. Scott (Richard), Rachel E. Evans (Aubrey), Gary M. Evans III and Alexander M. Evans; four great-grandchildren: Caityn N. Simmons (neé Gerhardt) (Kenny), Alexis M. Scott, LCPL Scott, Tyler S. (Kaley), Summer V. Scott and three great-great grandchildren: Aubrey N. Gerhardt, Emery A. Simmons and Greyson A. Wyatt. She was preceded in death by her husband Gary Melvin Evans Sr., her sister Norma E. Darley and her brother George W. Parker, Jr. Also preceding her in death was her father George W. Parker Sr. and her mother Lillian Parker (neé Herr).

Family and friends are encouraged to come and celebrate her life on Friday August 2, 2024 from 5:00-9:00pm at Barranco Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Hwy, Severna Park, MD 21146. Her funeral service will be held the following day, Saturday August 3rd at 10:00 am at Barranco Funeral Home with burial to follow at Glen Haven Memorial Park, 7231 Ritchie Hwy Suite E, Glen Burnie, MD 21061.
