Josephine Ann Inserra Carroll, 85, of Glen Burnie and formerly of Annapolis, died of natural causes July 14 after a brief illness at the Marley Neck Health and Rehabilitation Center in Glen Burnie, where she had lived since 2003.
Born July 10, 1922, in Utica, N.Y., Mrs. Carroll relocated to Largo in 1969 and to Annapolis in 1986.
She was a homemaker and past copy editor working at Griffiss Air Force Base in Rome, N.Y. She was also a past newspaper reporter for the Bowie Blade in the 1970s.
She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Kettering, in Prince George's County and the Prince George County Parent Teacher Association. During her earlier years, she was a fashion model.
Her interests included bowling, golf, boating and tennis.
Her husband, Francis Carroll, died in 1986. Surviving are one son, Mark Francis Carroll of Severna Park; one daughter, Theresa Josephine Carroll-Terry of South Riding, Va.; two sisters, Mary De Salvio of Rome, N.Y., and Zina Masucci of Boston, Mass.; and four grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. tomorrow at Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway. Burial is private.
