Joseph Paul Smith, 67, a resident of Cape St. Claire for the past 31 years, died of cancer July 15 at home after a two-month illness.
The son of the late Joseph and Loretta Smith, Mr. Smith was born April 7, 1940, and reared in Buffalo, N.Y. He also lived in Cheektowaga, N.Y.
He worked as an auto mechanic for Dunns Auto Repair in Annapolis. He enjoyed NASCAR, painting, gardening, computers and hunting.
Surviving are his wife, Diana L. Smith, whom he married Oct. 14, 1961; one son, Phillip Joseph Smith of Annapolis; two daughters, Lisa Marie Bartram of Stevensville and Christine Mary Ross of Annapolis; and five grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway, where services will be at 10 a.m. tomorrow. Burial will be in Glen Haven Memorial Park in Glen Burnie.
