Joseph Halloran III
Retired Army Lt. Col. Joseph Edward Halloran III, 60, of Severna Park, died Aug. 26 at Baltimore Washington Medical Center in Glen Burnie. The cause of death is not available.
Lt. Col. Halloran was born June 18, 1947, in Yuma, Ariz., and was raised in an Army family, living in Germany, Korea, New York and Oklahoma. An Eagle Scout and a National Merit Scholar, he graduated from the Military Academy at West Point where he also taught English.
He was vice president for business development management for Science Applications International Corp., also known as SAIC, a leading systems, solutions and technical services company working in defense, homeland security, health and life sciences, space and earth sciences and global commercial services.
He was a member of the Association of the United States Army and what is now known as the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association.
He was Arizona State one-mile champion and enjoyed gardening, fox hunting, dancing and going to restaurants and the movies.
Surviving are his wife, Cynthia M. Halloran; his children, Ann Linnell Halloran of Tulsa, Okla., Army Maj. Joseph E. Halloran IV of Fort Leavenworth, Kan., and Britt Ann Nielsen of Cleveland; his father, retired Army Col. Joseph Edward Halloran II of Sedona, Ariz.; two sisters, B. B. Montalvo of Kingman, Ariz., and Patti Woodruff of Clearwater, Fla.; and four grandchildren. He was the son of the late Bly Baker Halloran.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway. The service will be at noon Saturday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 689 Ritchie Highway, Severna Park. Burial will be at a date to be determined in Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia.
