Joseph Mark Fetsch, Sr., 94, a resident of Glen Burnie, died on February 28, 2013 at Baltimore Washington Medical Center in Glen Burnie, due to complications from a stroke.

He was born on June 5, 1918 in Baltimore and was raised in Catonsville. He graduated from Catonsville High School in 1936. Past residences include Severna Park and Pasadena.

He served as Staff Sgt. in the Army Air Corps during WWII. He was a waist gunner of the 306 Bomb Group, the Bombers to first fly over Germany.

Joe worked as a painting contractor for over 50 years.
He was a member of the VFW in Brooklyn. He was an avid golfer and in his youth he caddied at Rolling Road Golf Club. Joe loved sports, especially the Baltimore Orioles and Ravens.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Elva Davis Fetsch, who died in 1968; his parents, Birdie and Henry Fetsch ; his siblings, Henry Fetsch, Anne Molesworth, Margaret Einstein, Edward Fetsch, Mary Fetsch, and Theresa Menefee.

He is survived by his three daughters, Deborah J. Chalk of Glen Burnie, Margaret J. Fetsch of Severn, and Suzanne L. Rzepkowski of Severn; one son, Joseph M. Fetsch, Jr. of Glen Burnie; and three grandsons, Scott Chalk, Jerry and Mark Rzepkowski.

A Memorial Gathering will be held on Saturday, March 9th from 12:00 pm- 3:00 pm at Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Hwy, Severna Park 21146. A Service by the Veterans of Foreign Wars will be held at 1:30pm Saturday. Interment will be in Baltimore National Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Veterans of Foreign Wars, 601 E. Patapsco Ave., Baltimore, MD 21225.
