Joseph J. Domotor, 95, died peacefully on January 3 at Anne Arundel Medical Center under the watchful care of Hospice of the Chesapeake, following a brief illness.

He was a 55 year resident of Anne Arundel County.
Joe was born on May 28, 1916 in Bethlehem, PA to the late Louis and Julianna Domotor. Upon graduation from high school, he left Pennsylvania to embark on a career in the military, rising to the rank of Major in the U. S. Army before his retirement in 1959. Joe saw action in World War 2, in the European Theatre, serving under General George S. Patton. As a tank commander in the 15th Tank Battalion, Sixth Armored Division, he and his men participated in the "Battle of the Bulge" in Bastogne, Belgium. He was awarded the Silver Star, the Bronze Star and numerous Purple Hearts, as well as additional awards and commendations throughout his military career.

His military career behind him, Joe went to work for the U. S. Postal Service, retiring again from government service in 1979.

He loved the outdoors, baseball and the horses, which led to a job with the Maryland Race Tracks where he worked for a number of years. An avid baseball fan, he followed a number of teams, especially the Orioles. He was very active in the early days of the Harundale Little League, serving as a coach and President of the Association, as well as volunteering his time in numerous capacities. He also enjoyed gardening, stocks and politics and would engage anyone who would listen in a discussion on the state of the nation and investing.

Preceding him in death was his wife of 75 years, Ann R. (Perry) Domotor. Also preceding him in death was his brother, Louis F. Domotor of Washington, DC.

He is survived by his sister, Mary S. Toma of Hollywood, FL.
He is also survived by a daughter, Joanne M. Durner and her husband Robert of Arnold, MD, and 2 sons, Joseph J. Domotor, Jr. and his wife Lisa of Arnold, MD and Stephen L. Domotor and his wife Diana of Mt. Airy, MD. He is survived by 5 grandchildren, Robert H. Heller,III and his wife Debbie of Land O'Lakes, FL, Christopher M. Heller, of Wilmington, NC, Brendan L. Domotor of Arnold, MD and Rachel and Alec Domotor or Mt. Airy, MD as well as two great grandchildren, Hank and Grace Heller.

A funeral service with full military honors is planned at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
